BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Matt Johnson

Veteran of the senior housing and healthcare industry with 23 years of experience, specializing in senior living development, operations, marketing and finance.  Founder and CEO of McFarlin Group, a Dallas, TX based healthcare focused private equity firm.  Successfully led the development, construction, and operations of 16 senior facilities with 1,300 units, managing projects with budgets ranging from $10 million to $240 million. Planned and developed over 40 senior facilities across 14 states, totaling over $1 billion in costs.

Education: Bachelor of Business Administration with double major in Finance and Real Estate Finance from Southern Methodist University

Recognition and Affiliations: Finalist for Ernst & Young 2015 Entrepreneur of the Year. Active member of YPO Dallas, currently serving on the Board. Involved with Alzheimer’s Association.

Eddy Hansen, Ret. Lt. Col. USMC, MBA

Marine Corps veteran with over 25 years of organizational leadership experience. Eddy is passionate about servant leadership, empowering individuals and enabling organizational success. Eddy has had great opportunity to fly tactical aircraft and lead small teams into uncertain challenges on foreign shores. Eddy has partnering with senior officials and military leaders from many nations and diverse cultures to solve complex problems.  Eddy is currently the Director of Advanced Sensors for General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc., a leading manufacturer of unmanned aircraft and high resolution surveillance and radar imaging systems.

Education: Bachelor s Degree in Political Science from the University of Minnesota.  MBA from the University of Michigan, Stephen M. Ross School of Business. Eddy is a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the US Marine Corps.

Recognition and Affiliations:  Current Board Member of Be Involved * Act Now * Champion Autism, Inc. (B.I.A.N.C.A.), a San Diego based nonprofit organization established to provide funds for physical, psychological and occupational therapy for autistic children in need and to support autism research and cures.

Paula West-Hicks

Paula is a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP).  Paula has been in the healthcare industry for over 20 years and is currently the Executive Director at a 100-unit assisted living and certified Alzheimer’s community in the Dallas, TX area.  Paula is active in the Dallas and Texas healthcare community including the Texas Assisted Living Association (TALA).

Education:  Paula received her Vocational Nursing degree from Platt College in 2011. Paula has worked in healthcare for most of her professional career in multiple positions across the organization from nursing and clinical to leadership roles. Paula entered the seniors housing industry in 2008 as an Activity Director at an Assisted Living community in Plano, Texas. Upon receipt of her LVN license, Paula moved into the position of Director of Nursing. Paula has also served in the role of Alzheimer’s Director before moving into senior leadership as Executive Director overseeing all daily aspects of community operations from activities and food service to medication management and clinical operations.
